Description

Increasing client skilful behaviour is strongly associated with positive outcomes in DBT. Yet sometimes it can be challenging to get clients engaged in skills training, rehearsal and ‘homework’.
We look at how individual DBT can make best use of solution analysis, skills rehearsal and set relevant ‘homework’. Skills groups can also build a culture of open, supportive discussion around real client problems. We show how to invite ‘real’ discussions, link current problems to the current topic, prompt rehearsal, coaching, and manage emotion in group. We will discuss how to respond to client reluctance or non-completion of tasks.
