Description
The prevalence of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has experienced a significant surge in China in recent years. While Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the most recommended treatment for NSSI behaviors, there is a severe shortage of therapeutic resources relative to the massive population in China. To address this critical gap, we conducted a multi-center randomized controlled trial in China to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and underlying mechanisms of DBT skills-training (DBT-ST) group therapy for patients with NSSI. Our findings demonstrate that DBT-ST group therapy alone is highly effective in reducing NSSI behaviors, alleviating emotion dysregulation, and mitigating borderline personality symptoms. Building on these empirical outcomes, we have successfully implemented DBT-ST in clinical settings. We have also made several strategic adaptations based on local practice to maximize therapeutic benefits for the clients. In this session, we will share our practical experiences and insights on seamlessly integrating clinical research with real-world practice under resource-limited conditions.
